Please be apprised that the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project will be spraying on September 22, 2009 before students arrive at St. Francis Xavier School.  Under the provisions of the law, Standard Notification must be given two working days before the application takes place.

Under the provisions of each school's Integrated Pest Management Plan, as prescribed by the Children's and Families Protection Act, we are required to notify parents/guardians when an application takes place.  In compliance with this Act, we are required to send the Pesticide Standard Written Notification, Consumer Information Bulletin and Insecticide Fact Sheet.  All of these documents are attached.  Hard copies are available from our School office during normal office hours.

We also want to make you aware that state health officials have raised the alert level for eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) to "high" for Acushnet after two pools of human-biting mosquitoes tested positive for the disease in New Bedford yesterday.  Because of this event, all students will be restricted from outdoor activity until after the spraying.  This decision was made in conjunction with Acushnet Board of Health.

For more information about EEE, please access the following site:  www.mass.gov/dph.

Regards, Donald Pelletier
