Our Mission
- Mission
Statement
-
St. Francis Xavier School is a Catholic faith and
academic community serving the students and families of St. Francis Xavier
parish and surrounding communities. We strive to develop God's gifts in
our students, faculty, and others, working in cooperation and mutual respect
with humility and compassion.
-
We live the teachings of our Lord, Jesus Christ,
in the Catholic Christian tradition, demonstrating our faith in action through
our care and service for one another.
-
-
- Christian Values
Christian
virtues permeate the curriculum and the school programs. Children are
active in daily prayer, liturgical programs, and service activities.
These service activities include preparing holiday food baskets for the
needy and participating in various programs to benefit needy charities.
-
Parents and the Community
-
Parents play a vital role in the development of our
school. An active parent volunteer base serves as librarians, lunch
supervisors, teacher aides and school helpers. Parent and community
members also volunteer their talents as coaches of various sports.
- Students
-
The student enrollment is approximately 225. This
total represents an ecumenical population, the majority being Catholic.
The students come from St. Francis Xavier Parish and many neighboring parishes
in and around Acushnet and surrounding towns. The students share various
religious, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Curriculum
The core curriculum consists of reading, math, language
arts, science, social studies, religion, computers, art, and physical
education.
Pre-school through grade five are self-contained
classes. Grades six through eight are departmentalized.
The curriculum, which reflects the school's philosophy, is
valued-based, and subjects are often integrated. It develops the
student's responsibility to God, himself/herself, family, community, Church,
and the world at large through global awareness.
